Bio
Alina Kugush (b. 1994, St. Petersburg) is an artist living and working in St. Petersburg.
She works in the media of painting, watercolor and printmaking, video animation, site-specific installation and performance. Creates events on the edge of performance and art-mediation, using make-up practice and working with the viewer.
Studied at the Graphic Arts Department of the Repin Academy. I.E. Repin. Graduate of the school for young artists of the PRO ARTE Foundation. Participant of the School of Active Drawing and Performative Posing SHARPPS-7 of the group “North 7”. The artist’s projects have been displayed in group exhibitions at Myth, NAME GALLERY, AIR.ITMO Gallery, Peresvetov Pereulok, at the Museum-Apartment of V. V. Nabokov, as well as at international festivals CYFEST-13 and Art Prospect, at Cosmoscow and Contemporary Istanbul fairs.
Nominee of the Kurekhin Prize (2022) in the category “Best Media Object”. Resident of the Garage Museum Workshops (2023). Fellow of the grant program for artists of the of the GES-2 House of Culture V–A–C Foundation (2024).
Guest lecturer and curator of the course “Fundamentals of Contemporary Painting” at the Moscow School of Contemporary Art.
